Marking 20 years of PCI accompanying the growth of the business community and localities, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held the Announcement Ceremony of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) 2024 on May 6 in Hanoi.
The event was attended by the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut and leaders of the Departments of Finance, Agriculture, and Environment of Long An province.
Over the past 20 years, the PCI has served as a barometer of persistent administrative reforms and efforts to create a transparent, fair, and favorable investment climate. Long An’s consistent rise reflects the province’s unified political will and sustainable, comprehensive strategies to enhance its business environment, widely recognized and appreciated by the business community and economic institutions.
Director of the Department of Finance of Long An province - Truong Van Liep said that the synchronous implementation of administrative reform policies and business support has helped Long An maintain its position on the PCI rankings. Notably, six out of ten sub-indices in PCI improved this year.
“As a result of PCI's consistently positive assessments, by April 2025, Long An has attracted nearly 20,600 enterprises, with registered capital totaling 406 trillion VND, alongside 2,300 domestic projects and more than 1,400 FDI projects, valued at over 12.8 billion USD.” said Mr. Liep.
This year’s PCI announcement drew broad participation from provincial leaders and the business community nationwide. Long An’s strong showing once again confirms its firm commitment to improving administrative procedures and fostering a truly open and competitive investment environment.
In particular, the upcoming provincial merger presents new opportunities for development while reinforcing Long An’s consistent message: to always accompany and support investors, in line with Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025, by the Politburo on promoting the private sector economy./.
